Kilauea Volcano Lava Flow Sea Entry - Volcanoes National Park, The Big Island, Hawaii.
Unquestionably one of the best moments of my life. Seeing land being formed right before your eyes is an event never to be forgotten. Molten lava, at around 2000 degree, flows into the sea to instantly turn the water to steam.
I took this photo while standing on an 80 foot cliff that looked directly into the ocean. The ground beneath my feet was still so hot it slightly melted the soles of my boots. The waterfall of lava was approximately 20 feet into the waters of the pacific.
I went with Kalapana Cultural Tours. This is a family owned business and all of the guides once lived on the land that is now a lava field. It was amazing to have such a connection with them.
