Unquestionably one of the best moments of my life. Seeing land being formed right before your eyes is an event never to be forgotten. Molten lava, at around 2000 degrees, breaks through the ground and flows at least 60 feet right as we watch with amazement.
The ground beneath my feet was still so hot it slightly melted the soles of my boots.
I went with Kalapana Cultural Tours. This is a family owned business and all of the guides once lived on the land that is now a lava field. It was amazing to have such a connection with them.
As a fine art landscape photographer I find myself seeking the very best of nature.
